I cant believe it.. We won the cup... Dhoni's superb captaincy made us win this time... Pollard catch is the turning point... My hero today in DHONI...
Dhoni's inspiring captaincy and a vry gud cricketing mind along with his cool and calm nature made us win d finals vs mumbai....Vey proud to be a fan of chennai...Dhoni rocked.....
Finally the deserving victory and the prestigious title. The best thing that happened to this team in the second half is that they understood their strength and weakness. Bollinger's arrival, ashwin sudden turn of form, vijay's good touch, rainas consitency and the most import aspect of this year that we fielded brilliantly almost in all matches in the second half took those crucial catches. But I would not forgive Hayden for his 17 from 30 except for the last catch he took of pollard. Finally let us salute captain cool who marshalled his troops very well. I'm proud that 'namme ooru chennai' has won the tournament. Open the shampagne let's begin the partyyyyyyyyyyyy
evn now these northie chutias cant take it dey cant digest da fact dat csk beat dem in their own back yard...inspite of home advantage..dey had dey still scred up ..an da media was all da way bias towards mumbai ...it wz all mumbai MI! lol we shoved one! up da marathi ass! an pollard dis fool tinks he can tossle wit dhoni wen dhoni hit him 4 a 1 handed six an made tat brilliant feild placing 2 remove him an still dese unsportive mumbaikars dint evn had da guts 2 congratz csk in da end...an call da match waz fixed if it was fixed den mumabi indians matchs were also fixed...so mumbai we have showed..tat u have alll the fancy show in da world but chnnai came up...2 fuck u 2 hell!fuck mumbai an mumbaikars who were bad losers an hyporcites! an born motha fuckas...go 23 hell lions hav finnaly roared an showed da mumbai !indians watevr dat name meant! only indians frm our country r frm mumbai...lol...go fuck ure self...csk rocks...c u all in champions leagues!
This was one hell of a match and our faith in the team and Dhoni has payed off. I do believe the sentiment in some of the comments that the IPL was loaded against chennai form the start, when we were vertually written off. Ther was a desparate attempt to propup other teams. I for one never trusted modi and his cohorts he tried to game the system and in the process hopefully pay the ultimate price. I couldnot help but wonder at the dissapointment on this Ass@ole face when Pollard got out. Chennai had the last lough and Iam glad about it. Please add Jakati to the list for me the wicket of tendulkar was the vital blow as he seemed to have clear game plan. The fielding and catching have been phenominal and the coach stepehen fleming and the support staff have made this team world beater. Finally enjoyed reading the blog and all the comments.
It was a total team effort and every player should be a hero in my opinion, add murali, albie and jakati to ur list, jakati got the crucial breakthroughs, albie bowled a gem of an over towards the end and murali simply choked the runs in the middle overs.
the only disappointment was Hayden and the Indian pacers, but not complaining :D
Even Thushara and Kemp did a decent job whenever they were in the playing XI, Anirudha played an important innings in the semis, we won because of a total team effort and the support staff too should be given some credit.
Add Badri and Jakati as well.Badri batted well to reach us the respectable scores when our team struggled and even scored some 50s. Jakati too took some important wickets also caught tiwary beautifully. Infact entire team are the heros. but Kudos to Dhoni and Raina. Fantastic Captaincy by MSD. Raina is the golden performer according to me for his allround performance. He batted well ,he bowled well at pressure situations,Livewire in field.
First thing first, Hearty congratulations to CSK, they rocked and deserved to be a CHAMPIONS. Most of the Indian commendators incl. Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar & Harsha Bhogle are highly biased towards MI. Its completely acceptable that MI is lead by one of the greatest batsmen of all time but they are reluctant to accept the MI's defeat and keep on cribbing about the Raina's dropped catches, some even forget to give credit to CSK for winning the IPL. If MI won, the story will be different and they will start praise SRT for this and that. MI lost with some pathetic tactical decisions, if Sachin captain like this only God can save his team(Remember he captained India in 1997), with 4 strike bowlers and formidable middle order he faltered to maximum. Ambati Rayudu for most part of the tournament batted at No:3, but in the finals he batted at No:5 and Pollard batted at No:8, and MI's most genius coach Robin Singh defended his strategy by "To protect Pollard from CSK's spin trio, we pushed him lower down the order"- fantastic!.
On the other hand, MSD was spot on with every aspects of the game - his inspired bowling changes, field placements are awesome. He as a batsmen accelarate the scorecard while batting and he had done some brilliant on-field decisions to dismiss Tiwary(Raina positioned in deep mid-wkt, Tiwary's scoring area) & Pollard ( Hayden pused to Mid-off and asked Morkel to bowl full length ball in the off-side). CSK's catching, fielding and their on field conduct has been very very good. No wonder, MSD told in post match interview after semis, if we play to our potential we can beat any team in the world.
Heaven shake Sachin played the Final otherwise Sachin worshippers might argue, MI lost because there was no Sachin and now they keep cribbing about Raina's dropped chances but they won't open their mouth for sachin's catch, which held by Dhoni in Raina's bowling and it eventually turned down by 'blind' unmpire. 20 yrs of international cricket, 30K international runs doesn't matter if your runs doesn't win match\title for you. CSK won MI fair and square in every department, hats off to them. They had answers for everything thrown at them. If there is Sachin, they always waited for him to make mistake by bowling tight lines. If they threaten with Pollard, they have answer with a tactical field placement. If there are Tiwarys\Rayudus, they got them struck by Jakatis and muralis.
Success and failures are decided in a moment and champions are always seize that moment - CSK done that. They played fearless cricket and crowned Champions. Well done.
Mumbai's crowd is very disappointing and blindly partial towards MI. No one is there for presentation ceremony. If it is in chennai, no will leave the place till the ceremony got over(irrespective of the match result). Whistle Podu!!!!!!!!
I am highly disappointed when player of the tournament handed over to Sachin.CSK had a tremendous match winner in Suresh Raina, he proved everyone with bat, ball & fielding. As expected, Jury are one sided and Sachin worshippers. There is no second thought that Sachin is a best batsman of All time but in the context of this IPL season, he is not the one to get that award. They failed to recognise one of the bright Indian talent. I wish to see Raina playing test cricket(May be at No:5), for that he has to work on his techniques against spin bowling.
Mumbai fans unable to accept the defeat and whining that the match was fixed. They are failed to aware that its extremely impossible to fix a match by any individual. Practically, all the 11 members in a team has to co-operate to fix any match. Are they still ready to accept the match was fixed and great SRT supported that immorality?
@syed.. i agree with u 100%.. valid valid points..
million dollar question is.. why the golden player/man of the series.. went to sachin.. he didnt picked up any wickets.. never a direct hit throw.. never a super dooper catch..
raina did that all.. i dont know how many of u noticed rainas face, when they announced golden player award..
everyone including raina was expecting that.. i hate ravi shastri and harsha.. they dont like dhoni.. and they dont like chennai either..
and in news channels.. it was like mumbai lost in a league game..
Piss off u ass holes... all bloody mumbaikers.
and the bloody mumbaikers crying for match fixing.. common.. dhoni and sachin top class crickers.. if a guy like sachin and captain like dhoni fixed the match, then cricket will die in india. even a die hard fan will watch crappy TV serials instead of cricket
And don't forget our fair play award.. 100/100 points. Tht means something right...? Whenever they show the fair play points the commentators just announce CSK leads and thats it. If this is MI, then they would surely say Mumbai (or any one other than Chennai) people are great, decent, well behaved, professional etc., etc., Now since it is CSK,, no words of praise... horrible.
I did notice Raina's disappointment when the golden player award announced. Even the camera man was focusing on Raina. Something fishy would have happened for sure. This must have been a last minute change. Assholes. Yes, I do like Sachin, but in this tournament he did cheat twice.. one is Rahul dravid's catch and other is he did not leave when he get out on Raina's bowling. If he is a good sportsman he must have acted better in these situations.
I would say, all the youngsters should watch and learn Dhoni's leadership qualities. He is fantastic.. he is the best example for a great leader. Never shows any frustrations on his team members, keeping it cool and deals with the pressure situations with high composure and dignity. Great qualities of a professional and leader.
Can't blame Sachin dude..that catch was difficult to judge, and not many players walk when they are actually out and this being a ipl final i doubt anyone would have walked..
Have to agree with the rest of the points though..
an yea raina deserved 2 be the gold player...but no it has 2 be da Bombai god...a god who jus bled!..a god who cant save dem!...a god who cheats...well i don blame him witout him dis bombai team will b notin..sachin is da gretst batsman in da world...but no man can be GOD..ppl who worship him R da pathetic unsportive BOMBAIkar walas!dis country sersly needs 2 think wether mumbai an north r seprate frm da south..which has been discrminated frm time immemorial...
north means mumbai.....watelse....of course i knw dat...dhoni is frm where hes a village kid who gt big..thru his talents...raina da same...i mean thos northies who r fuill of dem selves....like da one we saw in da stadium..an ure really...ignorant 2 think der is no discrmination.ever.exsited...de ppl whom i talk abt r no abt da poor pll f north who stuggle its da powerful rich...who u saw at da match..who could not fathom a an inch of sportmanship to rise an congradulate da team..i don need 2 type more dis proves evrthin..i said..jus watch da news..dis ha been goin aroun fer long tyme..
Mumbai showed themselves in poor light after yesterday's defeat. They should've atleast stayed back to appreciate Dhoni and CSK boys (after all they are indians, arent they ?? and Dhoni is india's cricket captain for god's sake)...Sachin took so much time to acknowledge (almost at the end) that CSK did well to deserve the victory (its not always abt mumbai, as some people think it is)..they were damn lucky to have the SF and Final to be played in Mumbai...RCB would have walloped them if they had played in the bouncier tracks of Bangalore...I am still a religious follower of Sachin but to see him 'not walk' for that caught behind dampened by spirits a bit...He surely didnt deserve the golden player / man of the series award...it should have rather gone to an upcoming/young player who pushed his team to victory...sachin scored a lot of runs but at a rather low strike rate unlike some other players...it was more of consolation prize that went to sachin...its only when you are in the opposing team, can you feel this favoritism pricking you (yeah, i did see the disappointment in Raina's face when he didnt get what he deserved)...Sachin already had too many awards, why should you pick him ahead of another truly deserving young Indian cricketer ?..beats me!
For once, i found it way too irritating to watch Ravi / Sunil Gavaskar and others commentating from the Opposing Ranks...Nobody mentioned the fact the CSK won the 'Fair Play' award too which means they have won all the games playing hard and fair without abusing their opponents! how many teams can claim that glory ?
CSK - You truly deserve it and I am proud CSK Fan and I dont hate mumbai or my god 'sachin' for that matter.
For a fleeting moment, it brought back memories of the sandstorm match (12 yrs back) when he made that glorious 143 and walked !
Sachin - You are human after all.
(apologies for this outburst, but i really did hate watching the presentation ceremony yesterday)
he had a shabby run in this tournament, but somehow it seems I would rather detest a Yuvi than a Haydos, he seemed to be so at peace with the CSK team. Almost like a Chennaite..
MI did get the strategy right in sending Pollard at 17 overs down. Pollard is known bad player of spin as his previous outings confirmed (in fact in both matches against CSK, pollard got out to spin). If indeed Pollard came up the order, the match could've gotten over quickly. 2 balls from Murali would have cleaned him up. "Pollard's coming down theorder" is just a big lame excuse. MI lost the plot when they failed to adopt an attacking strategy upfront - like how Gilchrist did in the semi-finals (period).
In fact, like I mentioned in the preview post, if not for Sachin I cant see anybody steering this chase. If not for Sachin, MI's chase could've have been much like DCs.
Actually.. We have been playing hard & fair cricket in all the three seasons and should have won CSK Fair Play awards in the earlier 2 seasons.. But the idiotic IPL Commentary team decided to give Fair Play Awards based on total score rather than on average.. And CSK missed out because it played 1 matches less than other teams..
Have to agree that pure delight on Hussey face when Vijay took that catch was enough for me to show that he should be picked for the next season too.. Somebody with that team spirit will never let the team down..
To all the folks who are upset that Sachin won the Man of the Series instead of Raina, don't worry. Even though Raina was more than deserving I think the media/commentators wanted Sachin to have at least some award on his birthday. Further, I think he would liked the trophy instead of the Man of the Series any day and CSK are the proud owners of the trophy. I am a major supporter of Sachin but, in this particular scenario, I think Raina was more deserving.
Now this tournament is over, I hope the management starts thinking about the next draft. Here are my choices on who should be in the team.
Indians (batting order) Vijay Raina Badri MSD Aniruddha Srikkanth Ashwin Balaji R Satish (brilliant fielder and innovative batsman) Ganapathy Vignesh S Jakati (if we can get another spinner I don't mind him not being there) Rajamani Jesuraj (I've heard that he is a good medium pace bowler)
Overseas Players M Muralidharan D Bollinger M Johnson (if available) M Hayden (just as a backup and the fact that he is absolutely loyal to the Chennai team) A Morkel M Aamer (if available) M Hussey (again I think he has class and this year might have been just an aberration)
Yo! struck me for a moment that we did a RCB of 2009 in this year, just that we didnt stutter in the finals.
In a way RCB was haplessly down in the 1st half and they won matches on the trot to come to semis and finals.
its funny that most people would have assumed RCB to win last year and DC played spoilsport( i loved the dismay on mallya's face, though i admired the RCB warriors).
CSK did the same, upset what i think most people would have assumed-
Mumbai - 1st finals- sachin playing with injuries, has all the elements of drama.
made a perfect copy.
Alas for mumbai fans, it didn't work out to be!
Qn! Wat's the deal next year? we are allowed to retain 4 overseas and 4 or 5 Indian players?
is that a team's decision or is it also the player's choice?
Yeah. If Pollard had got out against Spin, that would've been another Excuse. Pollard flayed Blore in the last few overs, and that would have been the comparison.
Knowing Sachin for long, he is not the one to get Strategies incorrect. He is the master when it comes to understanding the nuances of cricket and getting this minor tactics and strategies perfect. MI almost got it right, its just that Dhoni outsmarted them at the opportune moment. Imagine Pollard taking another 10-15 runs of Albie Morkel and MI were left to make 18 runs off the Final Over !!!! People wouldnt have stopped singing praises of Sachin and his strategy...
Yes, what made it irritating to hear was People (claiming to be cricket experts) imagining that MI were supposed to Win all throughout and somehow lost it and handed over the match to the 'lucky with the toss' Chennai.
@Yeskay //And the cute, nice moment of the match- Mike Hussey waiting near the ropes and rushing across to hug M Vijay after he takes tendulkar's catch! Wow moment of the series for CSk remains to be the 2 imperious sixers hit by MSD vs KX11 and his animated reaction.//
I totally agree. When you think about it.. it is not only cute, nice and Wow.. it is indeed our Secret of Success!!!
After out first loss this season, I was so down not only for losing the match but also the way we lost. I did not see any spirit and I felt there was a huge disconnection between our Captain and rest of the folks. After the first KXI Punjab loss and the following three losses in a row, I guess resulted in a better self analysis and team bonding. Thats actually impressive because in case of other teams they all fizzled out after the losses. But our guys made it for better.. and that's why we are champions now.
The cute moment that Yeskay described.. showed how much our team got together and appreciated each others victory. I don't know much about other dug outs, but we are lucky to have gems in the dugout like Nitni, Hussey, Tyagi and Bailey.. they cheered up the boys and I believe that all showed the way our boys played in the finals. They played like there is nothing to lose.
And the "Wow" moment.. Dhoni's reaction and Tyagi, Murali and other's sprint towards our Cool Captain.. Priceless..!!! It will be in my memory for very long time...!!
if not Satish, and if DK is up on the fray, we should nab Dinesh karthik, he would be an amazing asset.
i would have him keep and Dhoni marshal the resources from a cover point or so.
Flintoff may come, i just hope he is absolutely fit. His bowling maybe of particular use more than the batting. if Freddie is back the all rounder category is also taken care of. It does pay to have someone like him at no 7.
And one overseas opener as a standby for Hayden.
Someone like Shaun marsh, if any1..!
We have also had some excess baggage in Gonys and Jogis- need to clear them hahah
I will retain Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin from local players and Bollinger, Murali and Flintoff/Morkel
I will definitely try to pick ex-CSK players through the auction to get the team spirit/balance right. Its going to be tough to do this as CSK players will be hot property in next year's auction and with 2 new franchises joining the league we could be playing with a pretty new team !
But thers 1 thing Kumble and Sachin got it wrong this time and paid the price was the constant shuffle in batting order, esp. in the 2nd half.
Dravid and Kallis opening in the SF was like a WTF moment for me. Not intending to deride either of them.
Nayar coming in at 3 didnt make much sense. You cant play around too much with the batting orders. There can be one or at max 2 floaters.
Kumble did this error in a match vs DD too, they started too slow, lost too many wickets.
Comin back to the commentators, i feel my dismay and angst has subsided. Ask a Bhogle or a gavaskar- he would confide that the better team won yesterday. I would have imagined a Lsivaramki or a cheeka to be a little biased too when they come out there.
And even though Pollard's thunderbolts did make us skip a beat, i think its common knowledge that Pollards and Pathans do not click everyday and for long.
No decision on how the teams will retain the players. Ravi, Gavasakar and Pataudi have given the task to speak with the franchisees and take a decision.. Since Modi is no more, i personally expect it to be 4 domestic + 4 overseas players..
And the way Dhoni spoke on the presentation ceremony, I am more or less convinced that Dhoni would stick with the team.. But retaining Raina would be a challenge since he knows he will get 1 Million+ player this IPL.. But if VB & Srini are able to do that, that would be the coup of this season.. Next 3 Choices are Vijay, Ashwin & Badri.. (in that order)..
For foreign players.. other than Albie & Dougie there are no other obvious choices.. Oram and Flintoff would be good to have (But Flintoff's contract should be renegotiated for sure).. Also considering that Auction happens in Nov after October Champions League.. We should get more time to make an informed decision.
Ntini....he could be our official male cheerleader if there was one.
have i ever seen him glum or felt left out?
Goodness Gracious( like Sidhu)- He is such a gem. Pays to have some one like him.
Did notice Bailey too run towards the field in the match vs RR - when Douggie took an absolute blinder(pathan).
We did have a little below par contribution from the overseas players mainly bcos Haydos looked out of sorts, but the good thing finally CSk has a strong Chennai flavor now with Vijay and Ashwin Scorching it up.
On the lighter side. Now that you came up thoughts about the moments in IPL, i thought i will bring up this funny anectode with you guys (if you werent aware of this yet)
The funniest moment of all IPLs for me is Cheeka's pronounciation of Mbangwa's first name in IPL-1
In fact i still recollect Cheeka's ROFL moment in IPL when he was commentating alongside Mbangwa Cheeka made a mess of his name in the commentary box "... but muh-pe-le-lo mabangwa, you need to understand that the ball in swinging blah blah blah....."
Harsha B made a veiled reference to Cheeka's comments and the whole commentary team broke into a guffaw in the background...
many fans are pissed of at media and mumbai fans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma46bUMTCu8
sachin was great w bat, and was a good run machine., but strategy was pathetic in final when mattered. felt bad for raina.. poor kid deserved it.. he's a real match turner., u can see the disappointment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfDOclnroy0&feature=player_embedded#t=516
@yeskay, ya, that was cute moment of the final.. u really don want to mess with a team tat spirited and committed like tat. :)
sachin was great w bat, and was a good run machine., but strategy was pathetic in final when mattered. felt bad for raina.. poor kid deserved it.. he's a real match turner., u can see the disappointment
Folks, Here many are discussing about the weakness of Pollard against spin attack. If he is not capable of playing well against spin bowling means, why the hell he picked in the playing eleven? Its quite obvious that CSK having spin trio and Ashwin 4 + Murali 4 + Jakati 4 + Raina 2 (depends on situation) = 14 spin overs, only 6 overs left with pace bowlers, that too Dougie will bowl 2 overs in power play; potentially 4 overs left, by the time Pollard in the crease MI would be sinking (if they follow this tactics). Dougie vs Pollard is an interesting battle, though Dougie loses, Albie+MSD won that battle. Hiding one of the great hitter in dug-out is a GREAT(?!?!) strategy from MI, CSK won in the mind game too. Guys, I am proud CSK fan since IPL-1 days though I m a Mumbaikar.I dn't support MI but our beloved Super kings. I agree with u Raina was the Golden performer according to me Jaane do baccho ki khushi me apni khushi finally that shows we performed as unit didn't depend on an individual like MI depended on sachin.
Regarding mumbai crowd I agree they shud have waited to see the ceremony but u have to understand the other circumspect as well. DY Patil stadium is far way from Mumbai and also not near to the railway station. I takes around 2 hrs to reach there from Mumbai by road. Most of the crowd which had come to see the match was middle class which travels by either trains or bus.Finals started late and hence ended just after 12. Most of the ppl had come from far places and hence they wanted to catch last trains(remember no local trains are available from the nearest station after 12 in the night) or whatever transport available to reach home. Also it was Sunday and presentation ceremony ended after 1 AM.Most of the ppl had to attend the offices on monday and hence they had no other option than leaving early.Considering above all the reasons U can't entirely blame Mumbai crowd. Here I think it was the falut of organizers, the closing ceremony shud have started by 6 or 6:30 and match shud have ended on regular time hence winding up presentation by 12.
ANd Yes i agree on the Media part they were interested in Modi Saga they hardly cared about the winner.IF MI had won it wud have little more importance. That night breaking news was Modi sacked not Superkings won the IPL.
@Abhi, would these reasons holds good even if Mumbai Indians won the finals? Obviously NO right? It clearly shows their partiality. Regarding the closing ceremony start at 6PM, its a good idea but considering the laser light show& performances in the stage, post sunset was the right option. I have no second thought in saying that newschnannels are particularly keen on overshadowing MIs loss with Modi's saga.
CSK won the fair play award only because it is the umpires who award points for every match. Otherwise it would have gone to some other team. And that the f*** u mean by most stylish player, a guy who wears Armani suits off the field?? Its all bull shit. Chennai has been purposely and wantonly ignored by the the entire set up. The bloody cheap commentators at IPL are slaves of this system. Some of those slaves were afraid even to praise Chennai. If Modi had his way, Chennai would never win any cup. The entire system has worked against Chennai since IPL 1 which plays a very attractive brand of cricket. It is time the team management assert itself and show them that we are no pushovers. We are a humble people but there is a limit for our humility. We have scored the highest total in history of IPL, entered the semis in all editions. This clearly show that our victories are no flukes. Mumbaikars really showed us how to empty exit stadium quickly and efficiently, must have been the quickest stadium exit guiness record.

Well said Chris Ray, they are biased to the core. Deva.R you are spot on. Cricinfo recognise that and put in in "50 Magic moments": http://www.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/410452.html
I don't know if they waited if Mi had won.But my brother was at DY Patil stadium during MI vs DC match.Even though MI won that match most of the spectators had left early becoz of whatever reason i mentioned in my earlier post. My brother told me about the conditions after the match. Since the stadium is away from the city and not much public transport available at nights ppl have to look for an auto which are in limited numbers. Most of the ppl, who don't have any vehicle, have to ask for a lift to another vehicles.Even the ppl who has their vehicles leaves early to avoid traffic snarls in the parking lots. Here i m not taking the side of MI crowd but just telling u about the problem they face once the match is over. But Crowd at Chennai is most well behaved and appreciable crowd in the country, they too have very good understanding of the game.

no more comments.. enjoy the moments.. next is Champions leaugue in South Africa..
Yepppppeeyyyyyyyy.
Our next target is Champions League. Thats the time, CSK should show the world what they are capable of. Champions know only to win - CSK Roars
@syed: well said bro.. :)
Are they still ready to accept the match was fixed and great SRT supported that immorality?
love <3 the team !!!!!!!!
still cant belive it
made us soooooooooo proud
@syed.. i agree with u 100%.. valid valid points..
million dollar question is.. why the golden player/man of the series.. went to sachin.. he didnt picked up any wickets.. never a direct hit throw.. never a super dooper catch..
raina did that all.. i dont know how many of u noticed rainas face, when they announced golden player award..
everyone including raina was expecting that..
i hate ravi shastri and harsha.. they dont like dhoni.. and they dont like chennai either..
and in news channels.. it was like mumbai lost in a league game..
Forget that fucking mumbaikers..
We are the champions...
say it loud.. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
Well said @syed razool.. all valid points.
CSK.. Rocks Machi!!!!!
Yes that wer some mess up there.
Every season..the man of the series has gone to the winning team player- Watson for RR and Gilly for DC(if im not mistaken).
Raina should have been rewarded for his all round performance.
But having said that we got the trophy -fair and square.
I will not say Bhogle and gavaskar are dubious creatures, their bias does show clearly, which happens.
Care should have been taken to get more neutral commentators and prolly a neutral pitch.
Why not a place like kOlkata for finals?
I wundt blame Mumbai or Mumbai crowd, i think they would have never expected Mumbai to lose it ..esp with sachin in the side.
Gosh
now the ??
How much will the teams change in the next ed?
are we allowed to retain 8 players??
I am sure MSD and Rainas will more than glady stay back. The team management will oblige as well.
Any new players we may look to have, hayden may or may not return (tho he has been tremendous for CSk in the 1st and 2nd ed).
not sure whats the deal with Freddie?
i wish dinesh Karthik gets to CSK.
We would have a perfect middle order with MSD Raina and DK
Can't blame Sachin dude..that catch was difficult to judge, and not many players walk when they are actually out and this being a ipl final i doubt anyone would have walked..
Have to agree with the rest of the points though..
@ Robin

an yea raina deserved 2 be the gold player...but no it has 2 be da Bombai god...a god who jus bled!..a god who cant save dem!...a god who cheats...well i don blame him witout him dis bombai team will b notin..sachin is da gretst batsman in da world...but no man can be GOD..ppl who worship him R da pathetic unsportive BOMBAIkar walas!dis country sersly needs 2 think wether mumbai an north r seprate frm da south..which has been discrminated frm time immemorial...
@above
wats with all this hatred m8?
where did Dhoni jump off from, where did raina come from?
Is that North enough? The last we would like to have is a North South Squabble.
This happens, and on any ground except Chennai, thi swould have happened- people would have walked off.
But Yeah I agree - the Mumbaikar media seemed appalled at the loss that they took time to realise that it was a victory for a CSK as well.
But there were sections which have been neutral- Jadeja, Deanos and even Boria of all the people:) haha
if this blog is going to be active hereon, lets have a discussion on who are the players who maybe retained.
How does the process work?
is it buhbyee GONy and Jogis?Lol

I second that!!
//I am sure MSD and Rainas will more than glady stay back. The team management will oblige as well//
I did feel the same based on Dhoni's statements during the post match presentation. I hope it is true as well!!
Like to know more details about these though.. like how this process works etc.,..
north means mumbai.....watelse....of course i knw dat...dhoni is frm where hes a village kid who gt big..thru his talents...raina da same...i mean thos northies who r fuill of dem selves....like da one we saw in da stadium..an ure really...ignorant 2 think der is no discrmination.ever.exsited...de ppl whom i talk abt r no abt da poor pll f north who stuggle its da powerful rich...who u saw at da match..who could not fathom a an inch of sportmanship to rise an congradulate da team..i don need 2 type more dis proves evrthin..i said..jus watch da news..dis ha been goin aroun fer long tyme..

..not many players walk when they are actually out and this being a ipl final i doubt anyone would have walked..//
Then why we call him God..if he is like any other normal person??
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are some players (Gilli..?)walked out in the similar situations..
hahaha
u may as well call Westies to be politically correct...Northies are worse !
They would come from the Delhi Up belt.
But i think we should chuck that for now.
some teams have been having more media attention.
I would rather have Mum Indians get that than the stupid KKr because of a strong Bollywood connection.
At least MI played well this year.
I think most teams with low profile owners have not got the media attention.
Doesnt charm me much, but thats the way it was.
At leas we had MSD to have some share of glory.
@above
And ppl are still discussing why wasnt Pollard sent above.
Maybe he should have been sent above, maybe MI would have won.
The Ifs and buts Darn!
if Mi made the mistakes of having a messed batting order, they should own up. Its not a question of luck.
You dropped catches,m made tactical blunders, and then have people weep over the follies.
The saving grace was our own LS still holding our CSK card high in the commentary.
It was a little annoying, and that happens when you a little biased media and you play in the Home ground of Mumbai.
better luck next time - MI- ie if you manage to come so far:)
And reg Haydos:
he had a shabby run in this tournament, but somehow it seems I would rather detest a Yuvi than a Haydos, he seemed to be so at peace with the CSK team. Almost like a Chennaite..
I hope its not the last of him.
People like Gilly and Haydos shouldn't fade out.
@Yeskay
@Reshma
Pollard and most overseas players are edgy against quality spin.
But if i wer Sachin or Robin singh, I would have taken the chance.
You never win without taking the chances.
the excuses are irksome when the media comes out, even today inCNN IBN- we had more ppl discussing why MI lost as if they were never supposed to lose.
Thankfully NDTV was more unbiased with Deano and Jad.
And i think we can pat our backs too, most of us had constantly been saying pick 3 spinners if they were the best we have got.
And the cute, nice moment of the match-
Mike Hussey waiting near the ropes and rushing across to hug M Vijay after he takes tendulkar's catch!
Wow moment of the series for CSk remains to be the 2 imperious sixers hit by MSD vs KX11 and his animated reaction.
that was a new Dhoni 2 me
@ Reshma,
@ Yeskay,
Have to agree that pure delight on Hussey face when Vijay took that catch was enough for me to show that he should be picked for the next season too..
Indians (batting order)
Vijay
Raina
Badri
MSD
Aniruddha Srikkanth
Ashwin
Balaji
R Satish (brilliant fielder and innovative batsman)
Ganapathy Vignesh
S Jakati (if we can get another spinner I don't mind him not being there)
Rajamani Jesuraj (I've heard that he is a good medium pace bowler)
Overseas Players
M Muralidharan
D Bollinger
M Johnson (if available)
M Hayden (just as a backup and the fact that he is absolutely loyal to the Chennai team)
A Morkel
M Aamer (if available)
M Hussey (again I think he has class and this year might have been just an aberration)
Who are your choices?
@Robin
Yo! struck me for a moment that we did a RCB of 2009 in this year, just that we didnt stutter in the finals.
@Yeskay
@Yeskay
//And the cute, nice moment of the match-

@above
if not Satish, and if DK is up on the fray, we should nab Dinesh karthik, he would be an amazing asset.
i would have him keep and Dhoni marshal the resources from a cover point or so.
@Who to retain for next year
I will retain Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin from local players and Bollinger, Murali and Flintoff/Morkel
I will definitely try to pick ex-CSK players through the auction to get the team spirit/balance right. Its going to be tough to do this as CSK players will be hot property in next year's auction and with 2 new franchises joining the league we could be playing with a pretty new team !
@above
@Yeskay,
No decision on how the teams will retain the players.
Oh yes! Oh yes!
@Robin
The key here is MSD. And Raina knows playing with him has helped him and it helps slightly to put it mildly that MSD is the Indian team skipper:)
I would doubt if raina would want to leave.
And ur order does make sense.
Its the overseas players that the intrigue is about.
Will be good to have a strike bowler who can bat. Flintoff in his peak is a prize catch, am not very sure about how fit he has been.
And we may look to Snag a Warner or Marsh:) haha
asking for too much.
Disappointed with Dilshan this year, he could be such a useful player. Would like to see how his form picks up.
@yeskay

Folks,
Here many are discussing about the weakness of Pollard against spin attack.
"If one start to speak about Luck, he will end up losing" - Anonymous

@syed,
I don't know if they waited if Mi had won.But my brother was at DY Patil stadium during MI vs DC match.Even though MI won that match most of the spectators had left early becoz of whatever reason i mentioned in my earlier post.
