CSK is 'out of IPL - Season 5'

Poor CSK Season comes to an end with a loss to Kings XI Punjab. Now Only Miracles can help us now enter the play-offs. And the miracles generally do happen only for deserving teams. CSK - with such a wealth of talent - depending on other teams to qualify - is simply unacceptable.

And a shoddy batting & bowling performance by the team today. After playing so well for the last three matches, the team simply lost its momentum. None of the senior players - other than Bravo - took up responsibility for the team. Missed Badri desperately in today's Match

Positives:
1. Bravo: Remember Bravo was only bought for 200k USD in the auction. Buying him was one of the master-strokes. He has proved his value once again.

Negatives:
1. Other Players: None took ownership of the game. After seeing today's match, we don't deserve to be in the IPL play-offs. Hope the team makes a turn-around next year.

I blame the poor season on the decision to buy Jadeja in the auction.Who do you blame this poor CSK Season on?

P.S: We are not completely out as the title implies. If all the following teams - KXIP,RCB & RR lose atleast one match, we will enter the playoffs. But I can't foresee the possibility of  all the three losing the required games - with a playoff spot on play. But as CSK Fans, let us keep hoping & praying. :)

One of the problem for csk is to have a quality Indian fast(strike) bowler. They should consider to sell Jaddu to get someone like Munaf Patel, Varun Aaron or even Vinay Kumar. They should hope this change will eliminate their death over problems too. We were actually cursing L Balaji when he was with Chennai but now he is doing good for KKR!

And this season, they couldn't run the show with inconsistent M Vijay at top of the order so its nice to have one explosive Indian opener. Like to see more of Abhinav Mukund next season. To add more woes, chepauk pitch was too unpredictable this time around to cause a csk downfall. Tactically they are still a better team than others but faltered with the execution.

I agree with the other Anonymous. All successful teams in IPL5 have good domestic medium/pace options. CSK relies too much on foreign allrounders. CSK performed poorly in championship league and there they do the same again after making a genuine face saving attempts in the last few games.

Poor team selection throughout the tournament is really what cost us the tournament. We badly needed Badri in the last game, it is ridiculous that Badri who missed a game due to the Flu never made it back into the team. We have too batsmen who can bat aggressively and up the runrate and only Hussey (and Bravo in the innings yesterday) who can bat through.

Also we needed another good fast bowler to partner with Ben at the start. We needed to have taken the hard call to drop one of Albie / Bravo and selected Kulasekara in that slot.

Finally Dhoni's captaincy was not the best. I couldn't see why he kept bowling Ashwin at one end where there was nothing in the pitch for the spinner.. We needed to get YoMi to open the bowling and offered him the new ball on the seaming wicket for him to have had any impact.. If you are afraid of bowling your specialist bowler then don't select him in the first place.

Buying Jadeja was a bad ploy. We definitely need to buy Vernon Philander to accompany Bollinger/Hilfenhaus in the next auction. If possible, get rid of Jadeja.

Vijay's failure was a major factor this year and also that last-ball loss to Mumbai proved costly.
